Biomaterials for clinical excellence
"The future of biomaterials is in regenerative medicine. Regenerative medicines "helping the body to heal itself" - a fundamentally new approach designed to regenerate naturally lost or damaged tissue without permanent implants for the medical device industry, this represents the needs for new thinking, alongside the new materials. Addressing this problem has been challenged for the last 30 years", says Prof Kohn from New Jersey Center for Biomaterials 2007.1.
Vivoxid's core technologies have been developed to respond this thinking.
The technologies are based on expertise in bioactive and bioresorbable silica- and titanium oxides, and to specific understanding of how these materials and surface technologies react favourably with living tissue. In short, the Vivoxid IPR portfolio is expected to reshape common surgical procedures in the fields of orthopaedics, cranio-maxillofacial and spinal surgeries.
The unique FiberLiveTM resorbable fiber composite technology allows the reinforcement of bioresorbable bone implants, making them load bearing. The technology will make it possible to replace the majority of current metallic implants and to significantly enhance the properties of existing resorbable implants.
